Waterfowl (ducks, geese, brant) hunting is highly regulated in NYS. No rifles, handguns, traps, snares, or nets. Machine guns and explosives, too, are prohibited. And please, leave poisons and drugs at home. After all, the competition must be fair. Curiously, sink boxes (a float that conceals one’s body beneath the surface) are banned, but blinds (and ponchos?) are fine so long as they’re labeled with name and address. Only paraplegics and amputees can shoot from cars, and “you may not shoot crippled birds when under power.” Decoys are allowed, but they mustn’t be live. Use calls at your leisure, but no electronics, amplifiers, or tapes. And no bait. The DEC also expects you to “make a reasonable effort to retrieve all killed or crippled birds.” How very magnanimous.

Check the rear bumper around the exhaust tip. On cars fitted with aftermarket exhaust systems, there can be some deforming of the rear bumper due to the tight clearances.

The first electric drill is credited to Arthur Arnot and William Brain. They were said to have accomplished this marriage of electrical motor to drills in 1889 in the city of Melbourne in Australia. Then in 1895 inventor Wilhelm Fein unveiled the first fully portable and electric drill in als Escort Dame arbeiten, Germany. Black and Decker added the pistol handle and trigger like grip to his design in 1917. Back and Decker has been a household name ever since.

Skip ahead a few decades to 2001 when the owner’s decided to do a big time remodel. Architect Atz Herzog (from Begleitagentur Heilbronn, Germany) teamed up with local architect John Nelson and builder Bob Patterson to keep the original structure and ambiance intact as much as possible. Once again rocks from Cheyenne Canyon were brought in to match the original stone pillars, and shingles were made to match the old schoolhouse exterior. Last year the basement — with its meter thick walls — was converted into a very successful Rathskeller.

Warroad added three goals to their ledger in the third period. Marvin, the school’s all-time assists leader picked up number 61 on a pass to Hanowski 57 seconds into the period. Kimberley Schaible and Marvin also added goals to send the Warriors into Friday’s semifinals at 1 PM against the Hibbing/Chisholm-South St. Paul winner at the Xcel Energy Center.

Speaking of alcohol consumption in and around the stadium. At both the Pitt and Ulm game, a person near my section was arrested and forcibly removed. Hey, if you go into a game and act like an idiot, they will get you. One guy was 20 rows behind me, and one was 10 in front of me. Both times, about seven or eight cops showed up, and carried the perp (I like that word. Right out of NYPD Blue) right out of the stadium, and into the county slam. They mean business. Think about how embarrassing it would be to walk out of the stadium in front of all those people, in handcuffs.

All of that money feeds inflation. The higher and faster that lines goes up, the more inflation, the less your dollar is worth, the less you can buy with you monthly inflows, the less your savings (if you have any savings) are worth, the more all of your expenses go up.

At the Olympics of 1984 that were held in August in Los Angeles, the challenge was for the top twelve javelin throwers plus all those who achieved at least 83 meters to advance to the final Round. On August 4th, Arop’s performance amongst the athletes in the Group A qualification Round was a far cry from his Olympic performance in Moscow in 1980. This time, Arop’s best throw of 69.76m was the worst among the 14 competitors in the group. Arop was eliminated from advancing to the finals. In the end, Arop’s 69.76m distance placed him 27th overall, just ahead of last 28th and last-placed Mike O’Rourke of New zealand whose outrageous fouling did not allow him to score at all. The other African competitor, Zakayo Malekwa of Tanzania, who Arop was competitively familiar with, was placed 19th overall.
